Verdeggia is located in the Upper Valle Argentina, at 1100 meters above sea level, on a slope that was once intensely terraced, at the foot of Mount Saccarello. You reach the inhabited area along the roadway of the Valle Argentina, beyond the town of Triora.

Over the centuries, Verdeggia has become a characteristic ligurian village whose economy was based mainly on pastoralism and subsistence agriculture.

Verdeggia, with its church, is mentioned in the « Sacro e Vago Giardinello », a seventeenth-century document that lists all the churches and buildings of worship of the Diocese of Albenga (from which Verdeggia depended until 1831) from which we learn that the church , already dedicated to the Madonna del Carmine, was founded in 1641. In 1805 the town was hit by a considerable amount of landslide that caused 16 victims and led the Verdeggesi to rebuild the houses further downstream, in a more secure position.

The mountains above the village, near the Saccarello, were, during the Napoleonic period, the scene of bloody wars between the French and Piedmontese troops.

The patronal feast of Verdeggia is that of the Madonna del Carmine (which occurs on July 16 but is celebrated on the following Sunday); another important festival is that of San Rocco (16th August). In the night between the 15th and 16th of August, the night of « nöituràa », a group of singers pass from house to house.

Every year, in spring, a lunch takes place (in collaboration with the « Motoclub Valle Argentina ») on the occasion of the blessing of the motorcycles that takes place in Taggia (Im). In summer, the « Sagra dei sügéli » and the « Goat and Bean Festival ». In the month of August, the day of gathering of Vespe and not « Vespaghetti », in collaboration with the Club « Rivespa » of Riva Ligure (Im).
