The church of San Giorgio is one of the most interesting architectural medieval document of West Liguria. According to written sources, the church would have originated in the twelfth the century and was restructured from the XIV century, before its rededication took place in 1346.

The church was in the parish of Badalucco and Montalto until 1618, when the two villages were divided and took over the parish chapels in the village.

The orientation of the building and along the east – west. In the south side an opening entrance into a lodge now destroyed in which there was an immersion baptismal font. On the far wall there are two single apse at the aisles, but originally fit had a third that was cecata and covered by the great fresco of the Holy Apostles dating from the middle ‘of 1300. The church is a rectangular base divided into three naves by four columns and two pillars.

The columns are completed by low and square capitals each differently carved of slate. The first left and second right of the insignia have been scolputred with floral designs, the second on the left presents itself at the corners, while in the first on the right are legible shepherds roses. The square of the presbytery is covered by a cross vault with ribs jutting into the tuff. The interior roof of the church is resolved trusses. On the right side in the chapel there are two slate tombstones on which two inscriptions in Latin are clearly reconisable. One relates to the discovery of blood from Santo Stefano di San Gaudioso, the other one, shows the legacy by which Gaudioso Ammirati funded the chapel of Santo Stefano, by placing fit under the control of two family members and two representatives of the community

At the entry there is a tabernacle in Slate in which we find the arms of Ammirati and the cardinal P. Campo Fregoso who had commended the chapel.
Note also the tabernacle to the side of the central altar which contains the symbol IHS and the date 15 June 1514.

In the church there are still some frescoes perhaps the remains of a more extended cycle. In the back watt you can see the fresco of Christ with the Twelve Apostles dating from the middle ‘of 1300 as the songs of frescoes on the columns. The Triptych of Saint George, the Virgin and St. Michael dates from the end of 1400. The oldest fresco is of St. Christopher on the south watt dating back to the middle of 1200.
