Grandmother Carla started our restaurant. She named it after the hill just behind our taverna, Il Cippo – the Stone. Carla raised her family in the house she build in 1947 while her husband worked in Milan, and the restaurant has been located in our family’s house ever since she started Taverna Il Cippo in 1960.

Guests can reach us by car from the French Côte d’Azur and from Liguria. Some walk up to our village along the calm roads or even up over the high mountains behind us, to make sure that they have a good apetite when they come.

Taverna Il Cippo has been run by the same family for more than half a century. Short exceptions were a few years 1997-2001 and 2009-2013 when the restaurant was leased to others. Today, Il Cippo is run by Cinzia Messico with the help from her parents. Mamma Piera rules in the kitchen, padre Sergio prepares some of the local specialities and Cinzia is the master of desserts.
